Holocaust Remembrance Day 2016

Today marks Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HoShoah). On the Special Collections blog you can read a thoughtful essay by Nancy Hardy about Yom HaShoah and a few of the Holocaust stories found in the archives of UNLV University Libraries’ Special Collections. Also, on May 1, the local commemoration was held at Temple Sinai. The keynote speaker at the commemoration was Dr. Bjorn Krondorfer, Director, Martin-Springer Institute, Endowed Professor of Comparative Religious Studies (Department of Comparative Cultural Studies) Northern Arizona University.

Esther Finder explained, “Dr. Krondorfer, a German native, shared with the audience his experiences as a man of conscience who happened to be a child of perpetrators.” Esther is the president and founder of Generations of the Shoah.
