Shelley Berkley and Art Marshall Co-Chairs of the Board of Advocates

Shelley Berkley (former U.S. Representative and Regent of the Nevada System of Higher Education) and Art Marshall (long-time Las Vegas businessman, banker, and former Nevada Gaming commissioner) have agreed to serve as co-chairs for the Board of Advocates for the Southern Nevada Jewish Community Digital Heritage Project launched by the UNLV University Libraries in August 2014. The Board of Advocates is comprised of prominent leaders in the Southern Nevada Jewish Community who provide significant assistance for the project in the form of public advocacy or financial support. There will be at least 10 Advocates but no more than 25.

The Southern Nevada Jewish Community Digital Heritage Project is envisioned as a three-year project. As part of the project, the UNLV Libraries will collect and preserve historical materials about the Southern Nevada Jewish community and make them available online in a dynamic web portal that will support research, teaching, and learning.

Because we are no longer actively fundraising for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project, we are directing all related donations to our Oral History Research Center for the pursuit of other meaningful oral history projects.
