David Goldwater Sr. (1917-2000) was a prominent trial attorney in Las Vegas, Nevada who represented casino executives such as Moe Dalitz and Jackie Gaughan. Born August 26, 1917, Goldwater grew up in Reno, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada, Reno. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific and earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart. After returning to the United States in 1945, he received his law degree from the University of Colorado Law School in 1949. Goldwater practiced law in Reno before he moved to Las Vegas in 1952. He became a partner in Wiener, Goldwater, and Galatz law firm and practiced law for nearly 50 years, up until his death on November 5, 2000.

Goldwater was active in the Las Vegas Jewish community and held several leadership positions in local organizations. He served as president of B'nai B'rith and the Las Vegas Combined Jewish Appeal, and helped to found both Congregation Ner Tamid and the Las Vegas chapter of the National Conference for Christians and Jews, which is now known as the National Conference for Community and Justice. He also served as president of the Clark County Bar Association.
