Gil Cohen

Gil Cohen is a casino host at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cohen moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Las Vegas with his family in 1957. His father, Yale Cohen, had been recruited by Moe Dalitz to work at the Stardust Hotel and Casino, which opened its doors in 1958. Gil Cohen graduated from Las Vegas High School and turned down several golf scholarships to attend the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). After graduating UNR, Gil returned to Las Vegas and started working at the Stardust, participating in a management-training program. In 1975, he was made hotel manager, his first of many leadership positions in Strip properties, which have included the Dunes, Aladdin, Hacienda, and Monte Carlo. Over this time, Gil has seen incredible changes in the gaming industry as it has adjusted to corporatization, and an increasing digital world. In addition, Gil served as president of Variety Club and worked for United Way.
