Kenneth Epstein (1941- ) is the President of the El Cortez Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. When he was 19 years old, Epstein moved to Las Vegas to work in the gaming industry. His mentor was Jackie Gaughan, then-owner of El Cortez, whom he met in Lake Tahoe in 1956. In 1975, Epstein became Gaughan’s business partner in the operation of El Cortez. He also helped Gaughan and his son open the Barbary Coast on the Strip in 1979. In 2008, Epstein purchased Gaughan’s shares in the El Cortez and became the major shareholder with nearly 57 percent ownership.
