Steve Wynn (1942- ) is an internationally known entrepreneur and casino owner based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wynn was born Stephen Allan Weinberg on January 27, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut. Shortly after earning a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania in 1963, Wynn took over his father's bingo parlor. He moved to Las Vegas in 1967, where he acquired three percent interest in the Frontier Hotel and Casino. At the age of 31 he was named chairman and president of the Golden Nugget casino. Wynn opened multiple casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, including the Mirage (1989), Treasure Island (1993), and Bellagio (1998). He sold Mirage Resorts to Kirk Kerkorian's MGM Grand, Inc. in 2000. Since then, Wynn opened the Wynn Las Vegas in 2005, and the adjoining Encore in 2008. Wynn Macau opened in the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China in 2006, and Wynn Everett is expected to open in Massachusetts in 2018.
