Listen to the Voices

Cassette tapes. Remember these? In the 1970s, cassette tapes were commonplace. Then as technology replaced cassette recorders, the trusted tapes were stored for posterity. However, time is not always kind to tapes. So one of the objectives of this project was to digitize the stored tapes.

Reformatted for digital preservation, we recently added more interview clips to the bio pages on the People section of this site.

So for your listening pleasure, tune into snippets from these oral histories; hear pioneer Las Vegans such as Hank Greenspun, Al Levy, Art Lurie, Charles Salton, Mike and Sallie Gordon, Max Goot—just to name a few. If there is a clip, you will see at the bottom a Listen to Audio Clip button.

Because we are no longer actively fundraising for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project, we are directing all related donations to our Oral History Research Center for the pursuit of other meaningful oral history projects.
