- "Upstream toward lower portals." [hand-written inscription on back of photo] This view shows the Colorado River in Black Canyon during the early stages of the construction of Hoover Dam. A suspension bridge across the river can be seen as well as various buildings and the entrances (portals) to the lower diversion tunnels.

- This file is derived from a high-resolution (300 dpi, 24-bit) uncompressed TIFF image that was scanned from the original using a AGFA Duoscan T 1200 scanner with AGFA Duoscan T 1200 scanning software, default color configuration. The TIFF files were converted into the JPEG2000 format.
