As Prince of Wales, Edward of England was a regular visitor of Paris, where he would stay in this of that of his favourite hotels. However, on the occasion of his 1903 State visit to France as the King of England, the British Embassy in Paris was his official residence, and for the duration of the visit it
was formally converted into the Royal Palace -the Parisian correspondent of Buckingham Palace. And this is why "Palais Royal" is handwritten on this menu in French, embossed with Edward VII's
initials (Georgius Rex) and royal crown.
This luncheon followed a dinner hosted by the King at he British Embassy
the evening before (and whose menu is equally part of he UNLV Menu Collection -see my comment).
