This photo was actually taken much later than 1980. It was either the late 1980s - early 1990s. When the Desert Inn (DI) was originally remodeled in 1978 to how it looks in this photo, the sign out front wasn't red as it is in this photo, nor did it have Desert Inn written on the top sides of the towers. The original sign from this remodel was white and said "Desert Inn and Country Club" If you are able to, pick up the DVDs of the 1978 - 1981 TV series, Vega$, which was produced primarily at the DI, and you will see the sign I'm referring to. While the actual date of the swapping of the white sign for the red one isn't publicized, it was done after Vega$ ceased production and the red signs on the towers were added a few years later.

Thank you for your comments. We were able to pinpoint a probable date of 1988 since that was the year Rich Little headlined in the Crystal Room while Charlie Schaffer was showcased in the Raffles Lounge. Thanks again for your interest in our collection and for the information you provided!
