C. A. Earle Rinker letter to his family, April 5, 1907, page 2
Tell you I was might glad to see Frazee's name on that receipts. Dady tell Shelton I am glad to see him there. We have drove a little over 400 miles in the Old Wagon and expect we will drive that much more before we get in. Watson MacMaster is an old [Bach?] about 45 years old. His partner G.G. Avery is a man that used to be in business with H.D. Mac, my boss) in Cripple Creek, Colo. He has a family, is about 46 years old. Crumlich is about 30 year old. I dont like him very well but I am going to try and get along with him. Avery shot two Jack Rabits day before yesterday. We had a mess of Meadow Larks the other day. Avery shot a coyote yesterday with my gun. He was about 175 yards away but he picked him. He shot a Wild duck on the Humboldt river yesterday but it was so cold that we did not want to wade in the water and we let the duck go. We drive through about 20 mile of sand the other day. It was about 4 to 8 inches deep all the way. I am writing this here in the saloon. A saloon is the only place to go to in a mining country. Don't think I am learning to be a booze fighter for I am not. Tell both my Grandads that I would like to see them. We are going from here up into a Country where they say there is plenty of Mountain Trout & Sage Hens. Tell you I am eating hearty. I will have a great vacation even if I don't get rich. Having plenty of rough times but I don't mind it. You must all keep well. Good bye for this time Earle. Notice Dady's name is not on the receipt.
