THE PRINCIPALS AND THEIR RECORDS"BATTLER" NELSON was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, twenty-four years ago. He came to this country when five months old. His parents settled in the town of Hegewich, Illinois, eighteen miles south of Chicago, and there the sturdy Danish lad was raised. He has fought in nearly every town of consequence in the United States where fights are permitted. The "Battler," for this fight, is probably in the best fighting trim he will ever know. He has trained well and conscientiously, and having made the weight without difficulty, declares that he is ready for the fight of his life."Joe" Gans is six years older than Nelson. He was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He is undoubtedly one of the cleverest fighters who ever entered a ring. He has beaten the best welterweights of the country and is the champion of that class today. Gans made the weight early in his training, and has been taking it fairly easy since. Doctors and experts of the ring who have examined him say that he is in perfect condition. Gans declares that his opportunity has come, and he enters the ring with confidence and determination fostered by his long wait for a fight with Nelson.GANS. He has made more money for Nelson up to date than any pugilistic manager in the countiy. He took charge of the "Battler's" interests two years ago, after the latter was defeated by "Jimmy" Britt. Nelson's success ever since has been meteoric. Nolan was born in San F'rancisco in the year 1870. Several times during the year 1890-91 he won the amateur boxing championship of California. From boxing he gradually drifted into the managerial end.BillyNolanFrankMcDonald,Gans'AbleTrainer
