Assault of Lavere Hansen - shop worker - Caliente. Los Angeles, Sept. 15, 1922. Mr. W. H. Comstock: Under date of September 3thSpecial Agent Harrington reports as follows. Attached to this report are statements as made out by those who witnessed the attack. It would seem to me that it would be possible to prosecute this fellow O'Connor. "Today one of the men, by the name of L. M. Hansonin the Roundhouse, was assaulted in the Post Office by a striker named O'Connor. He was hit in the back of the head and badly hurt.Quite a crowd gathered and the Catholic priest here tried to interfere and had his glasses broken and received a few scratches. O'Connordrew his gun and backed out of the Post Office. "I think it is best not to try it out in the local court here and I had Mr. Bowmansee U. S. Deputy Marshal here and he does not seem to want to do anything. There were a number of witnesses to this affair, includingDeputy Sheriff Denton and the POstmaster." (Sgd) Chas. V. Hatter, Chief Special Agent.
