Colloseum gold mine in Ivanpah, California. Later I took a lease upon the Alley silver claim and worked there for about three months but without any success. In the closing days of this lease my uncle Manning Thomas worked with me. Seeing no prospects of finding any ore, we walked over to Valley Wells and went to work in a copper smelter, then nearing completion. On the night of April 30, six inches of snow fell but it melted the following day.About three weeks later, my uncle and I returned to Van-derbilt. We took a lease upon a small block of ground east of the Gold Bronze mill. Worked it about six weeks, making about wages. Then I went to work in the Gold Bronze. While on night shift, on July 4 of that year, I fell off a four foot platform as I was quitting work and dislocated my right wrist. Had it set by a medical student, Knowland McFarlane, who was working for the vacation in his father's store. I then went to Los Angeles and stayed there about ten days including a three day stay in Catalina Island. Returning to Vanderbilt, I worked after my wrist was strong enough on a claim called the "Goer". In September I went to Ivanpah and worked about two months on an old silver claim called the "Swamp John", but found nothing except old workings which I tunnelled into. Returning to Vanderbilt, I made a trip of about ten days to Los Angeles. I went to work then upon two or three claims for Mr. Campbell around Vanderbilt. I then went to Yon Frickersprings, about twenty miles south of Vanderbilt and took out a carload of copper ore from an old shaft there and from the dump and shipped it to the Vallejo, California, smelter. It paid fairly well. Was there about six weeks. I then went out to Sandy, Nevada,
