Calif.Dear Sir!Now that the Short Line deal is con-sumated it might be well to see what canbe done about the Kiel ranch just above here.Think Mr. McDermott wrote you the kindof man living there and that he had broughtfew head of cows into the country-You realize thereis just a possibility of their having twin calves thisyear- Altho our cattle seem to have almost no calves this year.So far have only seen three young calves and have seenabout 200 head cattle outside of the fields.This must be the result of inbreeding for the stockis in fair condition & picking up every day.But to return to Lattimer on Kiel ranch. I aminformed they are now selling wine or some kind of stuff over there & indeed have seensome the evidence of it- And he is preparingto make all the wine he can this fall- in facttold me so himself. He also tells me he would like very much to stay on the ranch- and
