J. Ross Clark letter to E. G. Tilton, August 25, 1904

SUSPENSE COPY Aug. 25, 1904. 60-a Mr. E. G. Tilton, Assistant Engineer. Dear Sir: Attached is some correspondence which has reference to protection of the Company's interests at Las Vegas Ranch from the lawless element prevailing at Las Vegas. The Sheriff of Lincoln County has appointed a deputy to be stationed at Las Vegas, but in making arrests this deputy will be obliged to take his prisoners to Calientes where the nearest Justice of the Peace is located. I wish you would arrange with Mr. Jones for the free transportation of such deputy and his prisoners from Las Vegas to Calientes and return. Kindly return papers after necessary arrangement shallhave been made. Very truly yours, (Signed) J. ROSS CLARK. enc
