J. Ross Clark letter to Walter J. K. Bracken, March 19, 1903

March 19,1903. Dr. J .K.W. Bracken, P.O.Box 1444. Salt Lake, Utah. Dear Sir:-Referring to our conversation while here, in regard to your going down to look after the Los Vegas Ranch, I would like to have you leave Salt Lake on the first, and go directly to the ranch, and Mr. McDermott will meet you there and will put the matter in your hands, He has a general idea of what should be done. You will also have to keep a small stock of goods and look after the traveling public. I think it would be a very good plan if we could get some man and his wife, the man to work on the ranch, and his wife to do the cooking. We will not allow any liquor sold on the place, If you are willing to go, we will allow you $100.00 per month, board and room. Later on we may find something better for you. Mr.McDermott will certainly be back there by the time you arrive. I think it would be well for you to take down the bedding you spoke about to me while here, as I understand they are short of bedding, and I would also suggest that you take one shot gun along. There may be a little hunting, and it is a good plan to have a gun at a place like that. It is important to look after the cattle. Later on, there may be some that we can sell for beef. I will have a talk with Mr.McDermott before he returns and give him an idea generally of about what we want Very respectfully yours, (Signed) J. ROSS CLARK
