37-E Las Vegas March 31st 1903 Mr. J. Ross Clark Los Angeles Dear Sir I wish to let you know what our neighbor Mr. Geo Lattemore of the Kiel Ranch is doing[.] At present he has all these white men that hang around here for years at his place and he sells wine to not only those fellows but to Indians[.] One of my Indians did not show up this morning on account of too much wine yesterday (Sunday)[.] Lattemore I know understand has taken a partner and intends sending for a barrel of whisky and starting a saloon[.] Now this is bad and as I have forbidden any liquor on this Ranch I would like to prevent him from keeping it for sale[.] His lease I am told is for one year and I think he has been there four or five months[.] Cant we get him out quietly he is no good but might do us harm if he finds we are against him[.] Yours truly Wm McDermott
