289 Henrietta Ct., Pasadena, Calif., April 15, 1918.Techatticup Mine, Nelson, Nevada.R. T. Walker, Supt. Dear Sir:Mr. Hedges informs me that he has just received a letter from you stating that one of your cyanide men is expecting to be called away, and that you will in all probability need a man soon to take his place. He has asked me to write and make application for the position.Mr. Hedges tells me that Mr. Ralph Low left yesterday for your camp. I wish to state that I have had practically the same experience as Mr. Low, having worked seven years for the same company.I am experienced in Assaying, Oil Floatation, and have a knowledge of the cyanide process. I also have some knowledge of the K&K Floatation machine, Portland filter (which is similar to the Oliver), Burton classifiers, Trent agitators and thickeners, and the zinc-shaving method of precipitation.I am a married man, 27 years of age, 6 feet in height, and exempt from military service.I will be glad to accept the position when an opening occurs, with the hopes that it will be permanent, as I prefer the desert to city life.I can leave at any time, upon receipt of a letter or a telegram from you.Hoping you will consider my application favorably, I remainVery respectfully yours,Leavitt L. KeeneP. S. Mr. Hedges says that you do not state what salary you will pay.
