C. A. Earle Rinker letter to his mother, July 8, 1907, page 2
No 3 is a view of the stone dugout or house. Jeff is standing at the left of the picture. The Cook is in the middle, then the fellow that went over to the tunnel [an?] claim with us. There were only two fellows out there the day we went. You can see several cedars in this picture. The house is on the side of the hill and you can see the trail ging both ways past the house. The spring is about 50 feet to the right of the tent. Taylore and Mulcoy left on the 5th to go down and do the work on my claim. I had to cough up for the Powder and other expenses but they are not going to charge me anything for their work. They are also going to Lida where the District Recorder's Office is and Record the claim. No 4 and five are views in Goldfield. No 6 is a part of the Parade on the Fourth. This outfit headed the Plumbers Part of the Parade. It made a great hit. I toook several pictures of the Parade and this was the only one that was plain enough to print. Now I'll try and answer the letter. Think you are pretty frisky if you rode in the [sping?]wagon to Anderson. I gor the K.P. receipt O.K. I am going to try to get up to Lodge here some evening. I can imagine those wheatfields. Well I don't think I want any of the wheat field in mine this year. Glad to know our wheat is nice. I got the papers today. Say did you notice that picture in the Star of Gov. Vardaman of Kentucky. I am very well acquainted with his brother who is a broker here. Would like to be there to pick you Goose berries. Suppose Hick had a great Fourth. Am glad that Dady got the kids some fireworks. They did not allow fireworks here of any kind on account of fire. I sure remember the fireworks on the hill at Granddady R's. Yesterday morning earley John and I wnet out and made a round of the mindes. We went down in one.
