Levy, Harry C., -1992

Harry C. Levy was known for his many years in public service in Las Vegas. Nevada. He served as chairman of the Las Vegas Housing Authority from 1966 to 1989. His other positions include: chairman of the Clark County Juvenile Board from 1951 to 1967, Nevada state tax commissioner from 1959 to 1961, Las Vegas city commissioner from 1961 to 1965, and member of the board of directors for the National Housing Commission from 1959 until at least 1970. He worked for the Las Vegas Housing Authority for a total of 37 years, and now has a housing facility named after him – the Harry C. Levy Gardens – for seniors that are 62 years and older.

Levy and his family moved to Las Vegas from Southern California in 1943. In Las Vegas, he served as the president of Temple Beth Sholom from 1953 to 1954, and was affiliated with multiple non-profit organizations including the Jewish War Veterans, B'nai B'rith, and the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
