What brought the family here? Well, I'm not exactly sure. My paternal grandfather, my dad's father, had always been associated with nightclubs and liquor and gambling and those types of activities in other states, I guess is the best way to put it. So Las Vegas for whatever...I don't know all the details. My grandfather came out here first and went to work at the El Rancho. So he had to come in what year? Probably around 1950 or '51. Shortly before the rest of the family. Then from what I can remember and what I've known from listening to my father, after he graduated from college?he had a degree in business administration?he owned a diner outside of Philadelphia. Your dad [Alvin Benedict]? My dad did. So my grandfather [Meyer (Mike) Benedict] and my grandmother, paternal grandparents, had moved to Las Vegas.
