Minutes of the Meeting of Board of Directors and Officers of Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada (HSGSN) at Congregation Ner Tamid, October 7, 2001 1. The Meeting was called to order by President Schuster at 1:00 PM. A quorum was present. 2. The Minutes of the Meeting of September 13, 2001 were distributed and approved. 3. Treasurer's Report Treasurer Jean Lesser reported that, after dues incomes, contributions and expenses the organizations^ bank account is currently at $3022.18. The treasurer reassured the group that she would send send out dues statements in November for the 2001/2002 dues. Lydia Lebovic reported on contributions to HSGSN. The president encouraged members of the Board and their friends and acquaintances to contribute to HSGSN. It was suggested that contribution cards be included in the dues statements for the coming year. They should also be readily available during Board and General Meetings and the audience be reminded how their gift would aid the Group. 4. President's Reports and Old Business a. President Schuster announced that Ben Meed had requested a copy of the signed (by the Board) letter. A copy will be sent. It was hoped that Mr. Meed would also send a letter of thanks to Mr. Adelson for courtesies extended to him. b. A wall, to be named as the WARSAW GHETTO MEMORIAL, is about to be constructed at Beth Sholom from some 200 original cobble stones from the Warsaw ghetto. It was moved (Ben Lesser), seconded (Henry Kronberg) that HSGSN contribute eventually $1,000 to this project. Motion passed. c. Ed Gobel addressed the general Meeting (starting at 2:00 PM). He made a passionate plea for the survivors to support to support the Veteran Museum in which considerable space will be devoted to Holocaust survivors - with a central theme of the KZ at Dachau. The Spielberg Foundation has been approached for financial support and towards this cause, members of the Board signed a letter of support of the museum. That letter was actually sent after the meetinq of Oct 7. d. No news has been heard regards the application for funding of Cafe Europa. e. Plans are under way for the Chanukah party (with music). The Venetian will be approached for their support and members were urged to solicit door prizes. f. The next meeting will be In conjunction with Ann Weiss' appearance to discuss her book, at Chabad, 1261 Arville, Las Vegas on November 4, 2001. The Board thanked David and Myra Berkowitz for their many contributions. 5. There was no new business 6. The Board adjourned 2:00 PM, in time for the general Meeting.
