Muriel Stevens (1925-2016) is a former newspaper columnist, author, chef, and radio and television host. Born December 22, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954. Stevens is known for her radio and television shows, which focused on food, nutrition, and consumer issues. She hosted a one hour daily radio talk show for eight years before moving to television, where celebrity guests joined her on The Muriel Stevens Show to cook their favorite meals. She published The Muriel Stevens Cookbook in 1975 and also wrote for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. Stevens was a founder of the Consumer League of Nevada and served as president of the Nevada Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. In 1975 she was appointed to the Nevada Dairy Commission by Governor Mike O'Callaghan, and was also later appointed to the Consumer Advisory Council by President Gerald Ford. Muriel Stevens was married to television producer Maury Stevens, with whom she had daughter Robin Greenspun. Muriel Stevens passed away on December 12, 2016.
