In this groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Carol Goodman and City Councilman Ricki Barlow talk about the significance of the location of the school and its surrounding community. Brown discusses funding for the project and her upbringing in West Las Vegas. Lastly, Williams describes her vision for the Westside community and the renovation of the property.

Re-opening of F Street ceremony including Ricki Barlow, Carolyn Goodman and others on December 11, 2014 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this ceremony, Mayor Carol Goodman talks about the significance of the F Street underpass that connects the Historic Westside with Downtown Las Vegas. Councilman Ricki Barlow recognizes those who stood against the closure of F Street and the efforts of the community to reopen it. Katherine Duncan describes the economic and social impact on the Westside community when F Street closed.

Abstract

[This collection is closed. See Access Note for additional information.] The Oscar B. Goodman Papers (1888-2020) are comprised of records produced by Oscar Goodman from his time as a criminal defense lawyer in Las Vegas, Nevada. This includes working, legal, and evidence files from his own individual practice and his time as a partner at various law firms. The collection contains case files, wiretap tapes and transcripts, administrative files, and files relating to the legal affairs of his wife, Carolyn Goodman. The collection also contains the working files of David Chesnoff, lawyer and Goodman's former legal partner.

Abstract

This Asian American and Pacific Islander Day panel discussion, "Talking Stories: A Panel of the City of Las Vegas AAPI Committee," features six panelists and was moderated by Allycia B. Murphy, Deputy City Attorney, Office of the City Attorney, Criminal Division. Panelists include Cynthia Leung, Chief Judge for Las Vegas Municipal Court; Jennifer Rabanes, Recreation Coordinator at Centennial Hills Active Adult Center; Patricia Cabrera, Enterprise Records Officer, City Clerk's office; Joey Boquecosa, Equipment Operator, Public Works Department; Natasha Shahani, Senior Public Information Officer; and Gai Phanalasy, Multimedia Production Specialist. The panel was held at Las Vegas City Hall on May 11, 2023, following Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman's declaration of May 11, 2023, as "Asian American and Pacific Islander Day." Anticipating the proclamation, the City's AAPI employees formed the City of Las Vegas AAPI Committee to organize the City's first AAPI Appreciation Day at City Hall. The Committee invited several local AAPI performers, organizations, and social, cultural, and advocacy groups to celebrate, honor, and recognize the City's AAPI employees across all departments.

Abstract

The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Las Vegas Records (1998-2022) contain materials related to AIGA Las Vegas Chapter including board meeting agendas and minutes, financial records, and annual reports. The majority of the collection consists of annual design competition materials (referred to as "Peep Shows" until 2003 when it changed to "Work Shows"), which include invitations, marketing material, and program books. Also contained in the collection are event posters, national design competition materials, and AIGA annual design books and journals. The majority of the collection focuses on AIGA Las Vegas events.
