Description

Melvin Moss was a businessman and Jewish community leader in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moss served in the military and came to Las Vegas from Detroit, Michigan in 1942. While he was stationed at Las Vegas Gunnery School (now Nellis Air Force Base), he met Corinne "Corky" Wollman, whom he married in 1946. The couple lived in Detroit for a short period of time before returning to Las Vegas with two children in 1954. Moss was an investor and served on the board of directors of the Four Queens Hotel and the Bank of Nevada. From 1957 to 1959 he was president of Temple Beth Sholom and was involved in organizing the Las Vegas Gin Rummy Tournament, a fundraiser to complete construction on the congregation's new building at 1600 Oakey Boulevard.
