I agree.The irrigation practices on the Las Vegas Ranch were being blamed for the mosquito problem in Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Land and Water Company was being asked to address it.

Las Vegas Land & Water Co. 401 South 2nd Street Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Sir: As you are undoubtedly aware, the City of Las Vegas is attempting to abate the mosquito nuisance which plagues this City every summer. This job falls to the City Health Department and they are attempting to bring the mosquitoes under control. We have learned from them that one of the biggest sources of mosquitoes occurs on certain property near the Stewart school and to the North of the naval barracks. It appears that in this area water is being allowed to run out over certain areas therein, and it has created more or less a swamp. The City has sprayed the area but this will not be very effective in light of the present situation. We are informed that it is their belief that if the water is turned off and not allowed to run freely,this will clear up the situation in a very short time. I am writing this to you because it appears that a certain portion of this land is owned by your company, and it may be that this water is allowed to run purely because of a contract entered into between your company and the present owners of the property. We do not know the names of the present owners but would like to have you furnish us with any information concerning the situation. We feel that if this area can be made free from mosquitoes, a great deal of the job will have been completed.
